Q&A

What do you prefer, filming or stills photography?
My filming tends to be collaborative and my photography is just me on my own escaping into landscapes or new places.
I get pleasure in both, but right now my photography is the main focus and I want to start exploding projects and working with other artists and creatives.
Who or what got you started in photography?
It was by-and-large self taught through my A-level art lessons whilst at school. Encouraged on by my teachers to use my skills of composition from art and lighting experience from theatre work. I suppose all my loves combined!
What subjects interest you and feature in your work?
I have always been taken by landscapes. It's the ability they have to take you away; a cinematic quality I suppose. Some of my favourite images are from a road trip I did across America with my friends. The vastness of that country is extra-ordinary to capture.
Are the new techniques or subjects you wish to explore?
Over the past I have been learning how to take night sky photography. The Milky Way has become a bit of an obsession. It has challenged me and there's a thrill to capturing something which is so fleeting - the conditions have to be perfect and the timing right to get the image you have in your mind.
Portrait photography I feel has still eluded me. I have taken many portraits but only for commerical work rather than my own art. This is the area I want to pursure next.
Do you have any other creative passion?
Oil painting, sketching and baking a mean stout chocolate cake with Irish cream icing.
"For any model/artist looking to create with Drew, I highly recommend doing so.
He is extremely considerate, passionate about his art, respectful, and just a lovely pure energy to be around.
I felt extremely relaxed and comfortable while working with him, while at the same time inspired to expand his project with him in the process.
I felt respected, valued and appreciated as a model and as a creative, and I’m very exited to see the finished product."
